Vimeo Video School
Since a large portion of my project pertains to a video element, I thought it would be best to seek out lessons that have to do with videography. I think that Lynda has some excellent materials but I know that I may be spending some money in the hardware department for my semester long project so I searched for some alternative avenues of learning, mainly free resources. After some perusing, I found that Vimeo has a "Video School" or a series of tutorial videos that show video basics. Being that I made some videos in the past for a previous MALET class, I know that I have some serious deficiencies in shooting good looking videos. Substantiating and building upon the little knowledge that I have is important in making "professional-ish" quality videos and the tutorial videos and assignments that they have in this video school is something that I believe will be beneficial.
So far, I have watched a few videos that relate to making a camera choice. Being that buying a video camera, or DSLR (digital single lense reflex) camera could be a fairly substantial investment, I need to be sure that this camera will be good enough to record videos as well as some potential animation in the future. As a I get together my cache of video supplies, I know I need to invest in some lighting and sound equipment so I have watched a few videos on that subject matter as well. Soon I'll have to put my nose to the grindstone and lay some money out buying all of the equipment and as I do that, I'll be sure to document that as well.
For now, I am going to continue watching videos on shooting and do a few projects to test what I've learned so far. So that you can see what I am looking at, I've included the links to the resources that I'm using now for buying equipment as well as the video school.
